The province of Barcelona is the heart of Catalonia, located in the northeast of Spain. The city of Barcelona is one of the most important economic and cultural centers in Spain. Barcelona offers foreign language students excellent opportunities to study Spanish (Castellano), it is however worth noting that for the majority of people in Barcelona, Catalan is their first language. Spanish (Castellano), is used as a parallel second language.
